I agree with the TikTok ban because they were given plenty of time to sell the company or resolve the national security concerns. HOWEVER, I think it is highly suspicious that the shutdown will happen the day before Trump is inaugurated. Even if it is a coincidence, the timing will likely shape narratives around suppression of freedom of speech. It’s unfortunate that so much of the reason for the ban comes from classified issues of national security. If all levels of the US government were more transparent about those specific national security concerns (beyond data collection), the public might be equally concerned.
